<p>From child-friendly strolls to hilltop climbs – we’ve got a <a href="https://wales.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/walks-near-me/best-coastal-walks-wales/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Welsh winter walk</a> with your name on it, blustering winds, rosy cheeks and all. Better still, every chilly foray comes with a perfectly-placed pitstop, luring you in for a steaming flat white or a well-deserved glass of merlot (go on, you&#8217;ve earned it). </p>



<p>Here’s where to shake off the cabin fever this winter with a bracing walk in wonderful, windswept Wales. Just remember to check holiday opening hours for the local cafés and pubs before you set off – nothing kills that smug post-walk glow faster than a CLOSED sign. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-abereiddi-to-porthgain-pembrokeshire">Abereiddi to Porthgain, Pembrokeshire</h2>

<p>Follow the coastal path from Abereiddi to Porthgain and you&#8217;ll be there in under an hour, leaving you plenty of time to share a bottle of wine with your favourite person. Enjoy local beer and cracking food in a cosy setting that dates back to the 18th century, with four-legged friends more than welcome in the bar. While you&#8217;re in Abereiddi, don&#8217;t miss the Blue Lagoon: a jewel-toned pool wrapped in rugged rocks and atmospheric ruins that whispers tales of the area&#8217;s industrial past.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-mumbles-to-langland-and-caswell-bay-swansea">Mumbles to Langland and Caswell Bay, Swansea</h2>



<p>On the southeast side of the Gower Peninsula, take the six mile-long coastal path from Mumbles to Caswell Bay – passing Limeslade Beach and Langland Bay and then pass through Bishop&#8217;s Wood Local Nature Reserve on your way back.</p>



<p>During your walk, which will take around two and half hours, you&#8217;ll pass by the Langland’s Brasserie a restaurant and bar that has a delicious menu (think pork belly with cider sauce and truffle risotto), and serves local tipples, like Langland Gin.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-trearddur-bay-anglesey">Trearddur Bay, Anglesey</h2>

<p>This loop trail may test your limits, but never your spirit –&nbsp;not when there&#8217;s a glass of fizz with your name on it at the White Eagle. With stunning views towards Holyhead and Snowdonia, this adventurous seven mile circuit around Trearddur Bay serves up North Wales&#8217; nature at its finest. Think dolphins, porpoises, seals and a whole chorus line of seabirds.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-monknash-to-nash-point-vale-of-glamorgan">Monknash to Nash Point, Vale of Glamorgan</h2>



<p>Begin your outing at the Plough and Harrow &#8211; though fair warning, you may struggle to make it any further. It&#8217;s almost impossible to peel yourself away from this perfectly cosy country pub, standing strong since 1383. But, if you <em>do</em> manage to slip out the door, you can explore the Cwm Nash valley, opening out onto a rugged stretch of shoreline that somehow remains blissfully off radar. Follow the path to Nash Point Lighthouse, a cracking viewpoint overlooking a bedrock scattered with fossils. And don&#8217;t miss the Cliff Top Café, where a hot Welsh cake and much-needed brew await.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-porthdinllaen-gwynedd">Porthdinllaen, Gwynedd</h2>

<p>Porthdinllaen is a National Trust–managed hamlet with no vehicle access for visitors, so you&#8217;ll venture in via a sand-between-your-toes beach stroll or a breezy cliff-top amble. The Tŷ Coch Inn, perched right in the heart of the hamlet, casts out dreamy views across the Irish Sea towards Yr Eifl and is perfectly placed for a refuel whenever the mood strikes. You might even spot a few seals frolicking on the shore while you sip. <em>So</em> cute.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-crickhowell-powys">Crickhowell, Powys</h2>



<p>Independent shops, lovely pubs, and even a castle all add to Crickhowell&#8217;s charm &#8211; not to mention the abundance of walks right on the doorstep. From buggy-friendly strolls to heart-pumping hikes up Crug Hywel, there are plenty of chances to get your steps in before sitting down before collapsing happily into a seat at The Bear Hotel –&nbsp;a family-run, dog friendly coaching inn that does &#8220;well-deserved rest&#8221; exceptionally well.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-monmouth-to-redbrook-monmouthshire">Monmouth to Redbrook, Monmouthshire</h2>

<p>You&#8217;ll be spoilt for choice with not just one, but three pubs on this circular winter walk, a just-over-six-mile jaunt from Monmouth to Redbrook. Once you set off, you&#8217;ll climb up The Kymin through peaceful woodland, before joining the Offa&#8217;s Dyke Path and meandering back along the Wye Valley on a calm riverside stretch. With the Queen&#8217;s Head, The Bell Inn and The Boat Inn all en route&#8230;did somebody say pub crawl?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-garth-hill-cardiff">Garth Hill, Cardiff</h2>



<p>Ever seen <em>The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain</em>? Now you can replicate the very same stroll – though (tragically) without Hugh Grant in tow. This stunningly scenic hike is a gentle one, not too strenuous, and dishes up gorgeous views over Taffs Well, stretching across Cardiff, and even as far as Weston-super-Mare on a clear day. Once you&#8217;ve ambled down, reward yourself with your favourite tipple and thaw out by the fire at the Gwaelod Y&nbsp;Garth Inn. The pub was once a welcome refuge for weary travellers, so you&#8217;ll be in excellent company.</p>
