<p>Don’t&nbsp;count carbs, make carbs count. <a href="https://www.parkside.kitchen/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Park Side Bakery</a> in Lakeside is already pulling a crowd with its in-house bakes – think crusty sourdough, flaky pastries and sweet treats that rarely make it past mid-morning.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Next door, the kitchen restaurant serves up relaxed brunch and lunch (with a handy bar if coffee turns into something stronger). The bakery itself is&nbsp;mainly takeaway, with a few window seats and terrace tables for a quick perch. It also has a coffee shop, a 30-mins walk away&nbsp;on&nbsp;Heath Park – for more leisurely coffee and cake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>TikTok-famous and finally here. <a href="https://www.daveshotchickenuk.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dave’s Hot Chicken</a> is landing in Cardiff, bringing its cult LA heat to the former PMT music shop by Wyndham Arcade.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>



<p>What started as a scrappy East Hollywood car park pop-up back in 2017 is now a global sensation (with fans including Drake and Samuel L Jackson), known for its bold&nbsp;flavours&nbsp;and seriously spicy Nashville-style chicken. It&#8217;s loud, messy and very much worth the hype.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There’s&nbsp;a new restaurant bar landing in Cardiff’s Canal Quarter. Taking over the space above Pulse, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/exchangecardiff/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Exchange</a> will run as a standalone bar throughout the week,&nbsp;day&nbsp;and night, serving up food,&nbsp;drinks&nbsp;and a seriously slick new interior.&nbsp;</p>



<p>At weekends, it links up with Pulse downstairs, giving you two floors, two vibes &#8211; both with DJs.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-cool-new-kid">Cool new kid</h2>



<p>Something’s&nbsp;brewing in Sophia Gardens. Taking over the former Kindle site,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/rooscardiff/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Roos</a>&nbsp;restaurant and deli&nbsp;is&nbsp;set to open in Spring 2026. It comes from the team behind Pembrokeshire&nbsp;favourites&nbsp;The Boars Head and The Golden Lion – so expectations are (rightly) high.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Named after architect Alexandre&nbsp;Roos, who helped shape parts of the Bute estate,&nbsp;it’s&nbsp;housed in the historic Warden’s House and looks set to blend heritage with a fresh, food-led direction. Details are still&nbsp;under wraps, but with that pedigree,&nbsp;it’s&nbsp;already creating a buzz.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sun-soaked&nbsp;flavours&nbsp;without&nbsp;the airfare. Already a hit in Bristol, <a href="https://www.solinapasta.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Solina</a> is heading to 27 Westgate St, bringing its fresh, vibrant, shareable plates (or not – no judgement).&nbsp;</p>



<p>Expect handmade pasta at surprisingly reasonable prices, with menu highlights including white bean and truffle dip, beef shin ragu and squash-filled ravioli with brown butter and sage. Walk-ins only, so be prepared to queue – but trust us,&nbsp;it’ll&nbsp;be worth it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Big news for coffee lovers – Bristol-born&nbsp;favourite&nbsp;<a href="https://society-cafe.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Society Cafe</a> is heading to Cardiff. Founded in 2011,&nbsp;it’s&nbsp;built a loyal following for its&nbsp;speciality&nbsp;coffee, warm hospitality and carefully considered spaces.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Expect expertly sourced beans (with a strong ethical focus), locally sourced food and interiors that are just as thoughtfully put together as&nbsp;what’s&nbsp;in your cup. A serious upgrade for Cardiff’s coffee scene.&nbsp;</p>
