<p>It&#8217;s the most dazzling time of the year, and from Cardiff to Wrexham, the light trails are calling. The perfect way to ease into the festive season (mulled wine practically guaranteed), these glowing spectacles are guaranteed to brighten even the darkest winter nights. We&#8217;ve rounded up the very best light trails and shows across Wales &#8211; ready, set, <em>glow</em>.</p>

<p>Set within South Wales’ historic Margam Country Park in Port Talbot, Luminate returns to cast its spell for another year –&nbsp;and it&#8217;s bigger and brighter than ever. Touted as Wales’ number one immersive light trail, this mile-long illuminated journey shimmers with colour, sound and festive magic. Expect dazzling new installations for 2025, a music-synced route that dances with light, and plenty of surprises along the way.</p>

<p>A shimmering wander through twinkling lights leads straight to Santa’s Grotto, where little ones can whisper their Christmas wishes to the man in red before receiving a keepsake gift. Tickets are £12 and include the illuminated trail, grotto visit <em>and</em> present. It only runs for a few days before Christmas, so grab your tickets while you can.</p>

<p>Just a hop, skip and a jump from the city centre lies a full-blown winter wonderland. Wander through 15 dazzling light zones on a brand-new route that promises surprises at every turn. There’s a bubble wonderland bursting with interactive fun, glowing neon trails, and cosy pitstops where you can feast under the stars. And yes, there&#8217;s a marshmallow-toasting spot. Obviously.</p>

<p>Perfect for all ages, this free light trail is a feel-good wander of twinkling lights and festive music, packed with Insta-perfect photo ops you’ll actually want to post. Sip a steaming hot chocolate, grab a mulled wine or a sweet treat from one of the vendors, and soak up the joyful buzz as you go.</p>

<p>Just beside the resident pigs, rabbits and llamas, Manorafon Farm Park&#8217;s Christmas light trail is back &#8211; and it&#8217;s not just twinkling displays you&#8217;re in for. Think dazzling, a magical meet-and-greet with <a href="https://www.manorafon-farm-park.co.uk/whats-on/santas-adventure/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Santa in his Grotto</a> and an enchanting snowfall moment that&#8217;ll have the kids wide-eyed. Round things off with a tipple at the Elf &amp; Reindeer Pub and marshmallow toasting around the fire pits. Festive perfection. </p>

<p>As night falls, the whole place comes alive &#8211; from shows on the castle balcony and in the Dino Dome to twinkling lights threaded throughout the grounds. Magical, right? Follow the Christmas story trail and you&#8217;ll meet costumed characters along the way (cue the perfect photo opp). Feeling adventurous? Try your hand at archery or even axe throwing. Festive fun with a medieval twist. </p>

<p>Okay, we&#8217;re cheating a bit &#8211; this one isn&#8217;t technically a light trail, but it&#8217;s far too magical to skip. Perfect for rainy days, the castle&#8217;s first floor is being transformed into a magical winter wonderland for the festive season. Step outside and the courtyard dazzles too, with sparkling illuminations cascading across the medieval castle walls. Late-night openings only run through December, but the indoor festive fun runs from 29 Nov – 4 Jan.</p>

<p>Step just over the border into North Wales and you’ll find yourself in gorgeous Chester. Technically England yes, but for anyone in Wrexham, Flint, or Holywell, it’s far closer (and far easier) than many of the trails further afield. This year, Chester Zoo comes alive with playful puppets, a shimmering ribbon tunnel, kaleidoscope stars, a laser garden, bubble walk, and plenty more surprises. Definitely one for the diary. </p>
